ProMonumenta volunteers clean abandoned Santibáñez de Montes

Volunteers from the Asociación ProMonumenta, Friends of the Cultural Heritage of León, recently conducted a cleanup operation in the abandoned mining village of Santibáñez de Montes, located in the municipality of Torre del Bierzo. Approximately 40 members of the association, along with local residents, worked to clear dense vegetation from the area.

The efforts focused on the village church, the cemetery, and old hydraulic mills on the outskirts of the settlement. Volunteers also cleared main streets to restore the recognizable structure of the historic site. Following the work, the Torre del Bierzo City Council provided a meal for the participants.

Additionally, the Asociación ProMonumenta has released a new issue of its magazine under new leadership. The publication features various articles regarding regional heritage, including studies on traditional music, the chapel of Nuestra Señora de la Portería in Robledo de Omaña, the Castle of Alba, and post-war school architecture in León.
