Pronabec to award 20,000 scholarships in Peru for 2027

The National Program of Scholarships and Educational Credit (Pronabec), under Peru's Ministry of Education, plans to grant 20,000 scholarships in 2027. The initiative aims to expand access to higher education and align professional training with the country's economic and social development needs.

Education Minister José Antonio Chang stated that 90% of these scholarships will target careers in high-demand sectors, including fishing, agriculture, mining, high technology, and port and airport infrastructure. This strategy is intended to link academic training with productive demands to increase employment opportunities for youth.

The 20,000 projected scholarships include 6,000 spots for the Beca 18-2027 program, which supports high-achieving students with limited economic resources or those in vulnerable situations. Other programs, such as Beca Hijos de Docentes and Beca Tec, will also be part of the distribution to strengthen technical and professional training across various regions.
