PRONNIF rescues minors from neglect and domestic violence

The Procuraduría para Niños, Niñas y la Familia (PRONNIF) in the Central Region has intervened to protect several minors following reports of severe neglect and family violence. In recent operations involving public security elements from Frontera and San Buenaventura, authorities identified cases where children, ranging in age from four to 13, were subjected to inadequate care and environments involving parental substance abuse.

In one specific instance in the Colinas de Santiago neighborhood, three minors were removed from a situation involving domestic violence and rights violations. These children, who exhibited signs of poor hygiene and school absenteeism, have been placed with support families to ensure their safety while investigations continue.

Martha Lucía Herrera Ramírez, sub-prosecutor of PRONNIF Central Region, noted that the agency acts on reports received via telephone, social media, and news outlets. To prevent future incidents, the agency plans to strengthen coordination with educational institutions and provide specialized training to 'Policías Violetas' regarding protocols for intervening in cases involving women and children.
