Proofpoint expands AI security capabilities with new Hyderabad center
Cybersecurity firm Proofpoint is strengthening its global security strategy by establishing a new center in Hyderabad, India, to bolster its AI security capabilities. The move comes as artificial intelligence evolves the digital threat landscape, making cyberattacks more difficult to detect.
According to Bikramdeep Singh, Vice President for India & SAARC at Proofpoint, human vulnerability remains a primary concern. The company’s 2026 Voice of the CISO report indicates that 93% of Indian CISOs identified human risk as their organization’s largest vulnerability, a significant increase from 67% the previous year. Additionally, 79% of Indian CISOs believe employees are likely to use AI in ways that could expose sensitive data.
As AI tools become integrated into daily workflows, risks have expanded beyond traditional email phishing to include the sharing of sensitive information with AI tools and the emergence of autonomous AI agents accessing organizational data. Experts suggest that organizations must move toward a connected system that protects people, defends data, and governs AI simultaneously.
