Property disputes and trespassing issues reported in Hungary

Various reports highlight ongoing legal and social conflicts regarding property rights and the misuse of private or common areas in Hungary.

In one instance, a resident faced recurring issues with neighbors' children trespassing into their private garden to retrieve lost balls. Under Hungarian law, such unauthorized entry constitutes a misdemeanor of trespassing and can be classified as a violation of possession if it disturbs the peaceful use of the property. Legal experts suggest documenting such incidents through video recordings to build evidence for potential action.

In Szeged, a long-standing dispute has emerged in a residential building on Katona József Street. A tenant is accused of illegally occupying a portion of the communal courtyard by accumulating debris, clothing, and other items. The resident also reportedly installed surveillance cameras to monitor neighbors, kept dogs that cause hygiene issues, and attracted rats to the area. Local authorities conducted inspections in early 2025 and mid-2026, acknowledging the disordered state of the courtyard.
