Proposed statute aims to regulate Spanish politicians
A proposal has been outlined for a mandatory statute or code of conduct for political candidates in Spain. The proposed regulations include requiring proof of professional experience outside of politics prior to holding elected office, alongside an express prohibition on 'revolving door' practices where former officials move into political appointment roles.
The proposal also calls for Senate reform to prevent autonomous communities from using discretionary appointments to reward veteran politicians. Additionally, the statute suggests restricting the use of mobile devices and social media by politicians outside of working hours to prevent direct attacks on adversaries and critics.
