ProRapid sports complex to undergo rehabilitation in Bucharest
The ProRapid sports complex in Bucharest's Sector 1 is set to undergo rehabilitation and modernization following the signing of a construction permit by Mayor George Cristian Tuță. The project aims to revitalize the facility, which has fallen into disrepair after previously serving as a training base for CS Rapid București.
Planned improvements include the restoration of the large rugby field and the construction of a multi-sport field. Local authorities are also considering the addition of courts for padel, volleyball, and football. Beyond professional sports, the project intends to include a promenade area to make the site accessible to local residents, children, and youth.
The ProRapid base was originally established in 1998 following an idea by Mircea Lucescu. While it was once a central training hub for the club, it has faced years of neglect and legal complications involving the Ministry of Transport and ANAF.
