Prosecutor addresses judicial case of José Antonio García Ramírez

Prosecutor Rolando Vázquez has addressed the judicial proceedings against José Antonio García Ramírez, known as ‘Corpo’, in Cotuí. The case involves the sexual abuse of a minor, who is the defendant's niece.

García Ramírez was initially sentenced to 20 years in prison, but following a new trial, his sentence was adjusted to 15 years. During a discussion with journalist Ramón Tolentino, Vázquez emphasized that legal matters should be debated in court rather than on social media, noting that the process is ‘very delicate.’

Vázquez stated that in the first trial, three judges found the defendant guilty after the Public Ministry demonstrated responsibility beyond a reasonable doubt. He noted that the investigation seeks both incriminating and exculpatory evidence, and that the defendant has been admitted six testimonial proofs for his defense.
