Prosecutor appointments in Peru and Mexico signal legal shifts

Peru's Attorney General Tomás Gálvez formalised the reinstatement of Víctor Rodríguez Monteza as a supreme prosecutor after the Constitutional Court ruled the disciplinary process against him had expired. The court‑ordered decision restored Monteza to the Second Supreme Prosecutor's Office for crimes by public officials, prompting a reshuffle of senior prosecutor positions.

In Mexico, Andrea Guzmán Leyva was named interim head of the Federal Attorney General's office in the state of Chihuahua following the transfer of Victorino Porcayo Domínguez. Guzmán, who survived a gun attack while serving in Tijuana in January, now oversees the state's federal prosecutorial operations pending a permanent appointment.
