Prosecutor charges woman in Indaial businessman death case
The Public Ministry of Santa Catarina has filed charges against the partner of businessman Carlo Fabio Tomelin, 48, following his death in Indaial. Tomelin died after falling from a moving pickup truck on May 31, 2026, following a dispute with the woman.
The prosecution alleges that the woman used a resource that hindered the victim's defense, qualifying the charge as homicide. According to the indictment, after a disagreement, Tomelin attempted to prevent the woman from leaving in the vehicle by hanging onto the side step. The prosecution claims the woman performed sudden maneuvers despite realizing he was attached to the exterior, causing him to fall. Tomelin suffered traumatic brain injury and later died.
This legal action follows a Civil Police investigation that had previously not indicted the woman, concluding that the businessman was intoxicated and had voluntarily remained attached to the moving vehicle. The Public Ministry is now requesting a jury trial and a minimum compensation of R$ 100,000 for the victim's successors.
