Prosecutor Jacek Pałubicki Begins Record-Breaking Vistula River Swim for Charity

Prosecutor Jacek Pałubicki, an applicant at the National School of Judiciary and Prosecutor's Office in Kraków, started a nonstop swim of the Vistula River on 18 July 2026 from Oświęcim. He passed Kraków on 20 July and plans to reach the river’s mouth on the Baltic Sea on 9 August, covering the full 942 km length in a single effort – a first for the “queen of Polish rivers.”

The swim is conducted in support of the Fundacja Mały Książę, which provides training and psychological care for adoptive and foster families with children affected by fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD). The initiative also promotes the #NiePijZaMnie awareness campaign against prenatal alcohol exposure. Safety was overseen by the Kraków Water Police, and a kayak relay accompanied the swimmer throughout the journey.

The charitable goal includes raising funds to support roughly 300 families, estimated to cost 50 000 zł, and to increase public understanding of the risks of alcohol consumption during pregnancy.
