Prosecutor Petru Iarmaliuc passes integrity vetting

Petru Iarmaliuc, the prosecutor handling the ‘Kuliok’ case involving former President Igor Dodon, has successfully passed an external evaluation of his ethical and financial integrity. The Prosecutor Evaluation Commission announced that Iarmaliuc, a prosecutor delegated to the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), meets the required criteria.

The Commission has proposed his promotion, with a final decision pending from the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP). Iarmaliuc has been involved in several high-profile cases, including investigations into illicit enrichment involving former prosecutor Igor Popa, magistrate Alexandru Gheorghieș, and various former communist deputies.

He has managed the ‘Kuliok’ case since 2022, which centers on video recordings from a 2019 meeting where former leader Vladimir Plahotniuc allegedly handed a bag of money to Igor Dodon.
