Prosecutor Radu George Bucurică suspended and arrested
Radu George Bucurică, a prosecutor at the Caraș-Severin Tribunal Prosecutor's Office, has been suspended from his position by the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM). The suspension follows a decision by the CSM's disciplinary section for prosecutors, acting on a proposal from the Judicial Inspection, and will remain in effect until his disciplinary proceedings are finalized.
This administrative action follows a ruling by the High Court of Cassation and Justice, which ordered Bucurică's 30-day preventive arrest. He is being investigated for several offenses, including violation of weapons and ammunition regulations, disturbing public order and peace, and two counts of contempt of authority (ultraju).
The criminal investigation stems from an incident in early August at a local establishment in Ribița, Hunedoara County. Investigators allege that Bucurică, despite having his weapon permit revoked in July, was in possession of a lethal Walther 9x19 mm pistol, a knife, and tear gas spray. The incident reportedly escalated when Bucurică refused to identify himself to police officers and subsequently fled the scene.
