Prosecutor requests 33 years for man accused of abusing and raping partner

The prosecution is seeking a prison sentence of more than 33 years for a man accused of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and subjecting his partner to a climate of control and submission. The alleged crimes occurred during 2022, during which the defendant reportedly forced the victim to consume narcotics and committed two instances of rape. The trial is scheduled to take place at the Lleida Court.

In related judicial proceedings in the same region, two men received two-year suspended prison sentences after pleading guilty to sexual assaults. Additionally, a man accepted a two-year sentence for the sexual assault of a young woman in a municipality within the Lleida judicial district, which included five years of supervised release and a restraining order.

Data from the General Council of the Judiciary indicates a rise in gender violence reports in the Lleida region, with 501 complaints registered during the second quarter of this year, representing a 2.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
