Prosecutor seeks aggravated life sentence in Hiranur Nilgün Aygar murder case
In the retrial of the murder of 16-year-old Hiranur Nilgün Aygar, a prosecutor has requested an aggravated life sentence for defendant Hüseyin Arda Şark at the Adana Regional Court of Justice. The case stems from an incident on August 31, 2025, in Mersin, where Aygar was shot and killed in a parked vehicle.
While the prosecutor seeks the highest penalty for Şark, they have requested that the existing sentences for the other two defendants, M. Z. and N. Ç., remain unchanged. The court has adjourned the proceedings until October 19. The family of the victim, including her father Murat Aygar, expressed a mix of relief at the prosecutor's request and continued desire for harsher penalties for all involved defendants.
Legal documents and witness testimonies, including statements from the victim's mother, suggest the incident may not have been accidental as defendants claimed. Evidence from phone records indicates that during the period Aygar was dying, Şark was engaged in calm communications regarding drug trafficking transactions, contradicting the defense of a ‘shock’ state.
