Prosecutors nominated for Bulgaria's Supreme Judicial Council
Several candidates have been nominated for membership in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) from the prosecutor quota. Among the nominees is Ivaylo Iliev, a prosecutor from the Kyustendil District Prosecutor's Office. Iliev's nomination is supported by magistrates from various regional and city prosecutor's offices, including Sofia, Pleven, and Burgas. His candidacy highlights his international experience, having served as a European prosecutor and as an assistant to the national member of Eurojust.
Other notable candidates include Siyka Mileva, the former spokesperson for Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, and Marina Nenkova, a deputy city prosecutor in Sofia. Mileva's nomination received 49 signatures, including support from former spokesperson Rumyana Arnaudova. Nenkova, who has been involved in high-profile cases such as the Vasil Bozhkov extortion case, was nominated by 22 prosecutors. Other candidates include Burgas District Prosecutor Georgi Chinev and Radoslav Gradev, the deputy district prosecutor of Ruse.
