Prosecutors seek 10-year sentence for man accused of robbing actress Nana

Prosecutors in South Korea are seeking a 10-year prison sentence for a man accused of breaking into the home of actress Nana (Im Jin-ah) and committing robbery and injury in November last year. During the closing arguments of the second trial at the Seoul High Court, prosecutors argued that the initial seven-year sentence was too lenient.

The prosecution emphasized that the defendant, a man in his 30s, has shown a lack of remorse and has engaged in secondary victimization by filing counter-charges of attempted murder against Nana and her mother. Prosecutors noted his extensive criminal history and his tendency to provide false statements, including claims that he did not carry a weapon and that he entered the home only to steal rather than to rob.

The defendant has admitted to entering the residence and causing mental distress to the victims but maintains that he did not intend to rob them or use a weapon, claiming he only intended to commit theft to pay for his mother's medical expenses. The court is expected to deliver its verdict on October 22.
