Prosecutors seek prison terms for footballers in alleged group sexual violence case
Prosecutors in Asti have requested prison sentences for three footballers involved in an alleged group sexual violence case dating back to May 30, 2025. The incident reportedly occurred during a celebration for the club Bra's promotion to Serie C.
Jesus Christ Mawete, a player for Livorno, faces a requested sentence of three years, six months, and 20 days. Fausto Perseu and Alessio Rosa face requests of four years in prison. Rosa also faces accusations of revenge porn related to the distribution of a video in a team WhatsApp chat; he has reportedly admitted responsibility for that specific act but denies the sexual violence charges.
The defendants have opted for the abbreviated trial procedure, which allows for a decision based on existing investigation files without a full trial, potentially offering a one-third reduction in sentence upon conviction. A judge is expected to deliver a verdict in early November.
