ProSieben shifts The Masked Singer to Wednesdays amid rating slump
ProSieben announced that the music‑guessing show The Masked Singer will move from its long‑standing Saturday evening slot to Wednesdays at 20:15, with the 13th season beginning on 16 September 2026. Host Matthias Opdenhövel will remain, but the episodes will now be pre‑recorded rather than broadcast live. The after‑show that previously followed the program was already dropped, and the new comedy series Schäm dich, Reich! will take the 23:20 slot after The Masked Singer.
The schedule change follows a prolonged decline in viewership. The series launched in summer 2019 with 4.34 million viewers and a 38.5 % share among 14‑ to 49‑year‑olds. Subsequent seasons regularly held over 25 % share, but ratings fell sharply after the move to Saturdays, reaching around 9‑12 % in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, according to the ratings portal Quotenmeter.
