Prosperidad Social invests 1.41 trillion pesos in Nariño

Prosperidad Social has invested over 1.41 trillion Colombian pesos in the Nariño department. The majority of these funds, totaling 1.184 trillion pesos, were distributed through social programs including Colombia Mayor, Renta Ciudadana, Devolución del IVA, and Renta Joven. These transfers reached 64 municipalities, with the Colombia Mayor program expanding its beneficiary count from 99,152 in 2024 to an estimated 157,113 by 2026.

Additional investments of 227 billion pesos were directed toward social infrastructure, food sovereignty, and the local economy. This includes 131.956 billion pesos for 35 active social infrastructure projects, such as Solidary Supply Points (PAS) in Ricaurte and Tumaco, and the development of footpaths in indigenous territories.

In Neiva, the City Council is facing scrutiny regarding 38 Sunday sessions held between January 2024 and July 2026. These sessions, which reportedly generated 338 million pesos in net payments for council members, are being questioned for lacking the exceptional justification required by internal regulations. Some sessions were described as ephemeral, with one lasting only nine minutes primarily to approve meeting minutes.
