Prostate and Colon Cancer Prevention Emphasized in Argentina and Mexico

In Argentina, prostate cancer is the most common malignancy among men, affecting one in eight adult males. The Provincial Cancer Institute reports about 11,000 new cases nationwide each year, with 3,200 diagnosed in Buenos Aires province and roughly 1,300 deaths. Health officials advise men to begin annual medical check‑ups at age 50, or earlier if they have a family history of prostate or breast cancer, to enable early detection and treatment.

In Mexico, many colorectal cancers originate from intestinal polyps. While most polyps are harmless, neoplastic types can progress to cancer if not removed. Statistics indicate that one in 23 men and one in 25 women will develop colorectal cancer during their lifetimes. Doctors stress regular colonoscopies to identify and excise polyps before they become malignant, highlighting the importance of early screening for both genders.
