Prostate cancer experts urge early screening and awareness

Medical experts are emphasizing the critical importance of early diagnosis for prostate cancer, particularly in observance of World Prostate Cancer Awareness Day. Specialists warn that the disease often progresses silently in its early stages without noticeable symptoms, making regular screenings essential.

General recommendations suggest that men aged 50 and older undergo regular evaluations, including PSA blood tests and physical examinations. However, those with a family history of the disease may need to begin screenings as early as 40 or 45. Common symptoms that should not be ignored include difficulty urinating, weak urine flow, frequent urination (especially at night), and blood in the urine or semen.

Recent international research also highlights a link between accelerated biological aging and increased cancer risk in adults under 55. Studies conducted in the US and UK suggest that when cells age faster than chronological age, the risk of certain cancers, such as lung and colorectal, can increase by up to 15%.

Advancements in treatment, such as HoLEP laser technology and minimally invasive procedures like aquablation, are offering improved recovery times and more effective management of prostate enlargement and cancer.
