Prostate health: Specialists warn of urinary symptoms

Urology specialists warn that increased daytime urinary frequency, the need to urinate multiple times at night, or the sensation of an incomplete bladder emptying may indicate prostate issues. Edwin Romero, a urology specialist at Hospital Vithas Sevilla, notes these changes can be associated with prostate growth and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a common condition in men as they age.

While these urinary symptoms are often linked to BPH, specialists clarify that they are not typically standard manifestations of prostate cancer; therefore, the absence of such symptoms does not rule out the disease. Because of this, early diagnosis and regular check-ups are critical. Medical professionals recommend that men with a family history of prostate issues begin monitoring at age 45, while others should start at age 50 to facilitate early detection and prevent delays in seeking medical consultation.
