Protein-rich lattes may support satiety during weight loss

Choosing a morning beverage can influence weight management by affecting satiety levels. While no single drink causes weight loss, beverages enriched with protein and nutrients can help individuals feel full for longer.

Lattes made with cow's milk or unsweetened soy milk are highlighted as effective options. Unlike black coffee, these lattes provide approximately eight grams of protein per 240 milliliters. Nutritionists Samantha Cassetty and Lauren Harris-Pincus note that consuming protein at breakfast is linked to reduced food cravings later in the day and can help preserve muscle mass.

In contrast, milk alternatives such as almond, oat, or coconut milk typically contain significantly less protein. Beyond protein, cow's milk and fortified soy milk offer essential nutrients like calcium, vitamin D, vitamin B12, vitamin A, potassium, and phosphorus, which are vital to maintain during calorie restriction.
