Proteomics International secures Australian patent for endometriosis blood test

Proteomics International Laboratories has received a notice of acceptance from IP Australia for its PromarkerEndo patent application. The patent protects the company’s proprietary blood test designed to diagnose endometriosis and guide treatment selection by measuring specific protein biomarkers.

If granted and maintained, the protection is expected to extend until March 2041. This milestone follows existing patent protections secured in the United States and Japan. The company aims to use the test as a non-invasive alternative to current diagnostic methods, which often rely on invasive laparoscopic surgery and can take an average of seven years to reach a diagnosis.

CEO and Managing Director David Morris stated that securing patent protection in the company’s home jurisdiction is a critical step in its global commercialization strategy. Clinical studies have indicated high diagnostic accuracy for the test, including for early-stage disease.
