Protest group in Pakistan-administered Kashmir denies Indian meddling

The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) has rejected allegations from the Pakistani government that the group is being financed or directed by India. The organization, which is at the center of significant unrest in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, maintains that its movement is an "indigenous civil-rights movement" driven by local grievances regarding electricity costs, essential commodities, and political representation.

Pakistan has previously accused the group of being an armed organization seeking to disrupt elections and banned it under anti-terrorism laws in June. Federal officials have also alleged the discovery of an India-linked digital disinformation network used to amplify the group's campaigns. JKJAAC leadership has challenged Islamabad to provide credible evidence of foreign interference.
