Protestant churchgoers show generational divide on biblical truth
A Lifeway Research survey indicates a growing generational divide among Protestant churchgoers regarding the relevance of biblical truths. According to the findings, 54% of Protestants aged 18 to 29 agreed that some biblical truths become obsolete as culture changes, compared to 13% of those aged 65 and older.
Further data shows that 56% of young adult churchgoers believe certain biblical truths do not align with their personal beliefs, while 87% stated that the truth of God’s Word ‘can mean different things to different people.’
In response to these cultural shifts, Pastor John Amanchukwu addressed the TPUSA Faith’s Faith Forward Pastors Summit in Detroit. Amanchukwu warned church leaders against remaining silent on controversial cultural issues, arguing that a refusal to address scriptural matters allows culture to fill the void and disciple the church instead.
