Protesters march against Santa Palomba incinerator project

Over one thousand protesters marched between Albano Laziale and Ariccia to demonstrate against the proposed Santa Palomba waste incineration plant. The procession, organized by local committees, environmental associations, and citizens, drew participants from the Castelli Romani area, Pomezia, Rieti, Latina, and Umbria. Regional Councilor Alessandra Zeppieri was among the promoters of the initiative.

Parallel to the demonstrations, technical discussions regarding Rome’s waste management system have intensified. Luca Andreassi, an engineer and former vice-mayor of Albano Laziale, emphasized during a political school organized by Azione Roma that addressing waste issues requires more than just improving collection methods. He argued for a comprehensive redesign of the entire waste management chain, moving beyond the debate over individual plants or collection types to focus on systemic efficiency and material recovery.
