Protests and vigils held for victims of separate tragedies

In the Dominican Republic, families and survivors are organizing a vigil to honor the 236 people who died during the Jet Set nightclub collapse on April 8, 2025. The event will take place this Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in front of the Palace of Justice in Ciudad Nueva, Distrito Nacional. Participants plan to light 236 candles to remember the deceased and demand progress in the judicial process regarding the tragedy.

In Tampico, Mexico, relatives and friends of Cristopher Martínez, known as ‘Chóforo’, and his girlfriend Yadira Gabriela Juárez, marched from the State Attorney General's Office to the Municipal Palace. They are demanding updates on the investigation into a road accident that occurred over 40 days ago. The accident involved a black truck striking a motorcycle, resulting in Martínez's death and leaving Juárez with serious injuries.
