Primorka former workers protest in Bar over unpaid wages

Former employees of the Primorka food factory in Bar, Montenegro, held a protest in the city center to demand unpaid wages, severance pay, and pensions that have been owed for over 15 years. During the demonstration, protesters blocked traffic in central Bar for approximately 30 minutes.

Organizers, including Edin Begzić, have warned that if the government does not respond, they will escalate to daily protests and blockades of major roads, specifically the roundabout near the Meksiko primary school on the Bar–Ulcinj highway. The protesters have requested urgent meetings with Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and Chief Special State Prosecutor Vladimir Novović to define concrete steps for resolution and to clarify why the Special State Prosecutor's Office has not taken action on their criminal complaints despite being provided with extensive evidence.

The Civil Movement URA has expressed support for the workers, describing their struggle as a “heavy burden of the past” that Montenegro must resolve to build a just society. They emphasized that the workers are victims of a transition period that saw many enterprises destroyed while employees were left without their rightful earnings.
