Thousands of citizens have gathered in Pristina for eight consecutive nights in Skënderbeu Square to protest the verdicts issued by the Specialised Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague. The protests, organized under the slogan ‘Jo në emrin tim’ (Not in my name), are a reaction to the sentencing of four former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders for war crimes.

The court sentenced Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi to 25 years in prison each, Kadri Veseli to 18 years, and Rexhep Selimi to 13 years. While the leaders were found guilty of war crimes, they were acquitted of crimes against humanity.

Protest organizers, including Çlirim Haziri, have called on Kosovo's institutions to act immediately by reviewing and voting on a bill to amend the Law on the Specialist Chambers and providing financial support for the legal defense of the former KLA leaders. The movement has also seen support from the diaspora in countries such as the US, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.

In response to the demonstrations, Kosovo Police implemented additional measures to manage traffic and prevent dangerous driving during the nighttime gatherings. The ‘Liria ka emër’ initiative has announced plans for a mass march in Pristina on October 1 and a demonstration in Brussels on October 10.
