Protests erupt in Bielefeld over pharmacy owner's anti-AfD stance
Approximately 600 people gathered in Bielefeld, Germany, to demonstrate in solidarity with the Panda Pharmacy. The demonstration follows social media statements by the pharmacy owner, who declared that voters of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party are not welcome in her establishment.
During the rally, political figures including Green Party parliamentary leader Britta Haßelmann and former SPD Family Minister Christina Kampmann spoke. Haßelmann criticized the AfD presence as “pathetic,” while Kampmann described the pharmacy as a “symbol of resistance against the Nazis from the AfD.”
The event saw direct confrontation between supporters and AfD representatives, including Bundestag members Stephan Brandner and Maximilian Kneller, who were met with heckling at an information stand located across from the pharmacy. Participants at the rally included members of the Green Youth and supporters carrying rainbow flags.
