Protests erupt in Denizli following detention of Mayor Şeniz Doğan

Citizens and political leaders gathered in front of the Merkezefendi Municipality building in Denizli to protest the detention of Mayor Şeniz Doğan and several municipal employees. Despite heavy rainfall, a crowd assembled to express support for the mayor and the detained staff.

During a press statement, Yeni Parti Denizli Provincial Chairman Ali Osman Horzum criticized the judicial operations, comparing them to recent dawn raids seen elsewhere in the country. Horzum emphasized that Doğan was elected with 60 percent of the vote and asserted that such operations could not undermine the will of the people. He also raised questions regarding the legal process, noting that multiple prosecutors and deputy chief prosecutors have been changed during the year-long investigation.
