Protests erupt in Kłodawa over mine usage and education reform hunger strikes

Protests have emerged in Kłodawa regarding plans to utilize empty chambers in the local salt mine for potential waste storage. Demonstrators, including members of Reduta Polskości, expressed opposition to the idea of storing hazardous waste underground. The mine's management stated that while waste storage was one option considered, other possibilities such as energy storage, data archives, or server rooms were also under review. Management emphasized that no final decision has been made and that any project must pass environmental expertise and safety procedures. The procedure is currently suspended.

In a separate development, anti-communist era activists Jan Karandziej and Stanisław Oroń are entering their twelfth day of a hunger strike in Częstochowa. The protest is directed against education reforms proposed by the Ministry of National Education, which the activists claim lead to the demoralization of Polish youth. Piotr Duda, Chairman of the National Commission of NSZZ Solidarność, visited the hunger strikers to show support. The protest has gained backing from various patriotic and social groups, including the Coalition for the Defense of the Polish School.
