Protests erupt over unfinished music institute construction in Peru and Argentina
In the Junín region of Peru, clashes between police and community members occurred during a strike in the Acolla district. Protesters blocked the Jauja–Tarma highway to demand that the Regional Government of Junín resume and complete the construction of the Acolla Higher Institute of Music. The project involves an investment exceeding 21 million soles, but residents claim delays have forced students to attend classes in a primary school. Two people were injured during the confrontation when special services police used tear gas to disperse the crowd.
In Morón, Argentina, students from the Alberto Ginastera Provincial Conservatory of Music organized a march to the School Council to protest deteriorating infrastructure. Students reported issues including broken bathrooms, flooded classrooms, overcrowding, noise pollution, and the presence of rats. The student center stated that a relocation project has been stalled for over a decade, citing a lack of concrete responses from national, provincial, and local authorities regarding the facility's conditions.
