Protests in Belitung Timur and record attendance at Bali Yacht Festival

In Belitung Timur, thousands of tin miners protested at the PT Timah Tbk Gantung Area production unit office on August 7, 2026. The demonstrators demanded clarity regarding tin purchasing mechanisms and price certainty. The situation escalated as protesters breached barricades, resulting in property damage and the burning of two PT Timah buildings.

Meanwhile, the third biennial INSA Yacht Festival (IYF) 2026 took place at Benoa Port in Denpasar, Bali, from August 7–9, 2026. The event saw record-breaking attendance, with over 4,000 visitors and 5,000 registrations, more than doubling the turnout from 2024. The festival focused on wellness, marine, and gastronomy tourism, featuring yacht exhibitions, sunset cruises, and educational tours for students.
