Protests in Mexico City over alleged medical negligence

Family members of a five-year-old boy, Leonardo, blocked the Circuito Interior near Calzada Vallejo in Mexico City for over 12 hours to protest alleged medical negligence at the La Raza General Hospital, part of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

The parents claim the child suffered complications, including vomiting blood, after a probe was allegedly misplaced during treatment for peritonitis. The family sought an urgent transfer to a specialized medical unit and obtained a legal injunction (amparo) to facilitate emergency care.

Following the protest, Leonardo was transported via private ambulance to another medical facility for evaluation by specialists. The IMSS reported that the child's condition is currently stable.
