Protests reported in Brazil over housing delays and water shortages

In Teresina, buyers of the Grande Reserva Dirceu condominium, developed by Construtora Rivello, held a protest on Saturday to demand explanations regarding significant delays in property deliveries. Residents reported that homes purchased in September 2021, originally scheduled for delivery in October 2024, have seen their deadlines pushed repeatedly to September 2026. Complainants noted financial strain due to ongoing rent and construction evolution costs. The matter has been formally reported to the Consumer Protection Program of the Piauí Public Ministry (Procon/MP-PI).

Simultaneously, in the Curitiba metropolitan region, residents of several neighborhoods including Butiatuvinha, Santa Felicidade, and Orleans have protested a five-day water shortage. Protesters claim that despite multiple service requests, water supply has not returned. Sanepar, the Paraná water supply company, stated that while supply has been regularized in most areas, fluctuations may continue as reservoir levels recover following periods of high consumption.
