Protests reported in Jena and Fulda regarding political and environmental issues

In Jena, the alliance ‘Jena solidarisch’ has organized a demonstration scheduled for October 27, 2026, to protest a planned citizen dialogue hosted by the AfD parliamentary group in Thuringia. The event is expected to feature AfD politicians Björn Höcke, Elisabeth Mengel-Stähle, and Denny Jankowski. The protest aims to advocate for democratic values, openness, and human dignity through rallies in the Lobeda-West district.

In Fulda, approximately 220 people demonstrated against the planned removal of a green space on Johannisstraße. The city and a property owner intend to replace the area, which has hosted trees and shrubs for roughly 30 years, with 23 new parking spaces and a new access road. Critics argue the move undermines climate resilience and local air quality, questioning the legitimacy of the project despite its legal standing.
