Protests reported in Neuquén and Peru over resource access and infrastructure
In Neuquén, Argentina, residents and supporters of a settlement on Genco Street staged a traffic protest near Plaza Almafuerte. The demonstration was organized to oppose a fiscal order executed by provincial police that prohibits the delivery of water, food, diapers, and other essential supplies to families occupying the site. Protesters highlighted that the restriction directly impacts vulnerable populations, including children and pregnant women, and called for the measure to be relaxed on humanitarian grounds.
In another incident, residents of the La Libertad urbanization and Cusco district protested at the intersection of Avenida Enrique Meiggs to demand the repair of a malfunctioning traffic light. Neighbors reported that the broken signal has caused several accidents, including one where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. The protest caused temporary traffic obstructions before police intervened to clear the roadway and detain a local leader.
