Proton Lumo 2.0 and OpenAI ChatGPT Work Unveil New AI Assistant Features

Proton has released Lumo 2.0, an upgraded AI assistant that emphasizes privacy. The service uses zero‑access encryption, does not log user activity, and does not train on user data. New capabilities include a reasoning mode, image generation and analysis, web‑search with source citations, long‑term memory, and two model tiers – Lite for quick queries and Max for demanding tasks. The assistant also offers Fast and Thinking modes, as well as Custom Lumos that can retain user‑specific instructions. Proton claims the new version is up to 76 % faster for simple questions.

OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Work, a business‑focused AI that automates office tasks and integrates directly with tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, SharePoint, email, calendars, CRMs and project‑management platforms. A notable feature, “Computer Use,” lets the model control the mouse cursor to perform actions in external applications via an “Appshot” mechanism. Pilots have included Nvidia, Shopify, Zapier and Virgin Atlantic. The service runs on the new GPT‑5.6 family of models – Soul for complex agentic work, Terra for fast routine tasks, and Luna for lightweight, high‑throughput queries – and is being rolled out to Pro, Enterprise, Edu and free desktop users.
