ProtonUp-Qt releases version 2.16.0 with new compatibility tools

The open-source Linux gaming utility ProtonUp-Qt has launched version 2.16.0, introducing one-click support for proton-wineland, a Wayland-first Proton fork. This addition provides users with a streamlined method to manage the experimental build, which was previously more difficult to install manually.

The update also addresses several critical bugs, including an installation hang affecting GE-Proton 11-4 and newer versions that left users stuck on an extraction screen. Additionally, the release restores access to the Proton-RTSP fork and fixes an issue within the Heroic Games Launcher where GOG and Epic Games titles were not being correctly listed.

On the technical side, the developers have rebuilt the AppImage using uv and Nix, implementing a static runtime that removes the previous requirement for libfuse2. The update is available via Flathub and as a direct AppImage download on GitHub.
