Proud Poppy enters voluntary administration to restructure

Australian womenswear brand Proud Poppy has entered voluntary administration seven years after its founding. The retailer, which specializes in inclusive sizing ranging from size 6 to 30, has reduced its physical store portfolio, with only three locations currently listed on its website.

Founder Tara McKeon, a former emergency nurse, described the move as a voluntary restructure intended to help the business navigate turbulent conditions in the ecommerce and retail sectors. McKeon stated that the administration is “not a business shut down, bankruptcy or closure of the overall business” and characterized it as “the best decision” for the company and its community.

The brand continues to trade both online and in-store. Remaining physical locations include stores in Doreen, Victoria, and Gympie and Toowoomba, Queensland, with planned pop-up stores in Canberra and Adelaide. Administrators Kathleen Vouris, Richard Albarran, and Marcus Watters have been appointed to oversee the process, with a first meeting of creditors scheduled for August 17.
