Province of Caserta launches road‑infrastructure plan for Grazzanise Airport

The Province of Caserta has opened a coordination table with the mayors of Grazzanise, Cancello, Arnone, Villa Literno, Casal di Principe, Santa Maria la Fossa and Francolise to develop a road‑network strategy for the Grazzanise airport area. The first meeting, held at the province’s presidency offices, was chaired by President Anacleto Colombiano and the head of the Viability sector, Gerardo Palmieri, and was attended by mayor Enrico Petrella of Grazzanise.

Officials presented a preliminary plan that includes a 2‑km fast road link along the Fiumarella channel to connect directly with the Median Axis and improve access to the Rome‑bound highway and the Naples ring road. The proposal also emphasizes intermodal integration with the railway station at Villa Literno, upgrades to existing routes such as SP 147, a possible four‑lane extension toward a major roundabout, and new roundabout connections at key intersections. The initiative aims to create a coordinated, shared strategy for road and mobility enhancements that serve the airport’s development and the surrounding municipalities.
