Province of Lecce and Kingston Sign Intent to Pursue Twinning

A Declaration of Intent was signed in Lecce, Italy, between the Province of Lecce and the Kingston & St. Andrew Municipal Corporation of Jamaica, launching a formal twinning process. The agreement was signed by Province President Fabio Tarantino and Kingston Mayor Andrew A. Swaby, and also involves the municipalities of Lecce, San Donato di Lecce, Trepuzzi, Andrano, Martano, Monteroni di Lecce, Melpignano and Taranto. The partnership aims to promote cultural exchange, education, tourism, trade, local government cooperation, shared historical memory and joint participation in European and international funding programmes. It builds on a thirty‑year cultural link through reggae music and is coordinated by the Jamit cultural association as part of the Jamit Fest Jamaican Culture Week. President Tarantino said the twinning "transforms a long‑standing cultural link into stable collaboration" between the two communities.
