Provincial Penitentiary Service coordinates social reintegration efforts

The Provincial Penitentiary Service is coordinating efforts to improve social reintegration for inmates nearing the end of their sentences. This initiative involves an inter-ministerial and inter-sectoral approach, bringing together the Ministry of Security, the Ministry of Social Development, the Patronato of Inmates and Released Persons, and various civil organizations, including religious and labor groups.

Sebastián Tula Rizo, head of the Undersecretariat, emphasized the need for traceability between the treatment received during incarceration and the support provided once an individual regains their freedom. Diego Leal, Deputy General Director of the Penitentiary Service, stated that the goal is to provide both concrete and symbolic tools to ensure inmates can successfully reintegrate into society.
