Leonardo Avalanche replaces Pablo Marçal as PRTB presidential candidate
The PRTB (Partido Renovador Trabalhista Brasileiro) has officially replaced Pablo Marçal with its national president, Leonardo Avalanche, as its candidate for the Brazilian Presidency. The change was formalized on the final legal deadline for candidate substitutions following Marçal's resignation.
The substitution follows a unanimous decision by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to reject Marçal's candidacy. The court cited issues regarding his party affiliation timeline and his existing ineligibility until 2032 due to convictions involving abuse of political and economic power during the 2024 São Paulo mayoral campaign.
Leonardo Avalanche, who previously served as the vice-presidential candidate on the original ticket, has stepped up to lead the slate. Silvia Helena da Silva Pereira has been named as the new vice-presidential candidate. The new ticket has been registered in the TSE system.
