Prue Leith hospitalized after severe migraine mimics stroke symptoms
Dame Prue Leith, the 86-year-old 'Great British Bake Off' judge, was hospitalized in Yorkshire following a severe health scare that mimicked the symptoms of a stroke. Leith reported experiencing a loss of vision in half of her field of view, followed by an inability to speak coherently, describing her speech as an 'incomprehensible jumble of disconnected words.'
Her husband, retired fashion designer John Playfair, sought urgent medical assistance after noticing the neurological disturbances. Leith was taken to Harrogate Hospital, where medical professionals conducted a CT scan. The results confirmed that the incident was a severe migraine rather than a stroke. Leith noted that while the symptoms were frightening and closely resembled a major neurological event, she has since regained coherent speech and has been cleared by doctors.
