Prvá stavebná sporiteľňa reports high demand for housing renovation savings
In the first half of 2026, clients of Prvá stavebná sporiteľňa (PSS) entered into 25,729 new building savings contracts, with a total target volume of 641.61 million euros. Nearly one-fifth of these contracts were under the ‘Junior’ tariff, designed for children and young people to build a financial foundation for the future.
Regarding loans, PSS provided 3,432 new loans totaling 95.55 million euros during this period. The primary use for these funds was housing renovation, which accounted for approximately 44% of the total funds used for housing purposes, while roughly one-third was directed toward property purchases.
Building savings in Slovakia offer interest and state premiums. In 2026, the state premium is set at 6% of the annual deposit, capped at 70 euros. A proposal from the Ministry of Finance suggests that in 2027, the premium rate may change to 5%, requiring a higher annual deposit of at least 1,400 euros to reach the maximum 70 euro premium.
