Pryluky missile strike kills 22 as Russian aerial attacks hit Ukraine

A massive Russian missile and drone barrage across Ukraine has resulted in significant civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. In the northern town of Pryluky, a cruise missile strike on a five-storey residential building killed 22 people, including five children, and injured 54 others. Rescuers successfully extracted 15 survivors from the rubble during the operation.

Across the country, Ukrainian authorities reported at least 25 deaths and approximately 100 injuries. In Kyiv, drone strikes hit the Desnianskyi and Obolonskyi districts, causing further fatalities and injuries. The attacks also targeted energy infrastructure, including the Trypilska power plant, leading to widespread power disruptions and emergency outages in the capital.

President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Kyiv city authorities for failing to implement sufficient resilience measures against such strikes. Meanwhile, Russia claimed the operations targeted military-industrial facilities. The aerial campaign included approximately 130 drones and 44 missiles, of which the Ukrainian air force intercepted 117 drones.
